Feeling lost, especially after being away from Jordan for more than three consecutive years, I grappled with uncertainty upon my return. Unsure of where to start and what direction to take, I found myself at a crossroads. The advice I received from well-meaning individuals didn’t align with my vision. It was challenging to articulate why I resisted the idea of a stable job, restricted to a mere 12 days of annual leave—a confinement that felt like a personal prison. In the midst of this confusion, the quest for a path that resonated with my desires and aspirations began.
A Fateful Encounter:
Life often takes unexpected turns, and mine did during a volunteer event for Syrian refugees. A chance meeting with a seasoned tour guide led me to Sami, a Chinese tour guide with a heart for helping others. Little did I know, Sami would become my mentor, connecting me with the world of tour guiding.
From Translator to Tour Guide:
After a one-day trip with Sami, my linguistic skills and ability to translate for a tour guide were recognized. In September, a sudden call presented an opportunity to translate for a group from Taiwan. This marked the beginning of my tour guide journey, a path I hadn’t initially considered but quickly fell in love with.
